The Colosseum
The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, is an ancient Roman amphitheater in the center of the city of Rome. It is built from mainly concrete and stone, and it is considered one of the largest amphitheaters ever to exist in Ancient Rome. It is thought to be one of the greatest Ancient Roman architectures. It was a great privilege for gladiators to be selected to go and fight to death for the entertainment of the people.
The beautiful Colosseum could hold between 50,00 people and 80,00 people at a time. It was used not only for gladiatorial contests but executions, drama performances, animal hunts and re-enactments of famous battles. People went to be entertained because to them, watching people fight to death was fun.
Today the Colosseum is a very famous landmark. Many people visit what is left of the most impressive and famous amphitheater ever built in Rome everyday.
